Transitioning from secondary education to gainful employment requires understanding how to market personal workforce-ready skills. Suggested resources to identify an occupation of interest and/or similar to a particular interest through an online personality test will be reviewed. Ideas for locating resources to connect with current and future job openings in a particular field will be explored. Participants will examine job descriptions to recognize keywords/phrases and the process to strategically include the information throughout the resume. Intentional planning practical resume writing tips, including a specific Do and Do Not list as a practical reference, will be discussed along with template suggestions to assist with the ongoing support of revising and editing a compelling resume. 


Objectives

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify personality strengths to help with resume writing 
  2. Apply a basic understanding of information essential to include/not include on a resume
  3. Create a resume for jobseekers new to the workforce

About the presenter:

Dr. Lakeiah Cheatham is an educator of 26 years with experience as a general and special education teacher, campus administrator, and EdTech professional learning leader. Continuous improvement of self and looking for opportunities to develop the lives of others using effective research-based teaching/learning practices is the best way to describe her. When she is not cultivating the minds of educators, students, and/or communities, time is well spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
