Every Student Deserves a Way In
You didn't get into teaching to worry about legal checklists. You got into it because you want every student to succeed. But sometimes the materials you're using aren’t built with every learner in mind, and it's not always obvious how to fix that without a full rework of your lesson plans.
This course shows you how to make small, practical adjustments to what you're already teaching, so more students, including those who've been struggling to connect with the material, can genuinely access and engage with it. The techniques you learn also support ADA accessibility requirements, helping you create more inclusive and compliant instructional materials.

What You'll Learn
You'll build practical accessibility skills you can apply to the lessons, assignments, and materials you already use. Discover how small changes to the way content is presented can make it easier for more students to access, understand, and engage with your instruction.
At the center of the course is Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a framework for creating more flexible learning experiences that account for different ways students’ access and engage with information. The goal isn't to overhaul your curriculum, but to make practical changes that help more students connect with what you're already teaching.
Inside the Course
- Understand the Why: Get grounded in the legal landscape behind ADA Title II, IEP, and 504 requirements, and see the real impact accessible design has on student learning, without a compliance lecture.
- Learn the UDL Framework: Explore the three core principles of Universal Design for Learning (representation, engagement, and action/expression) and how the framework adds flexibility to instruction you're already delivering.
- Apply It to Your Materials: Put UDL principles into practice on the content you use most: documents, slides, videos, and handouts, with techniques like alt text, captions, color contrast, and readable formatting.
- Build Accessible Assessments: Extend accessibility into assignments and assessments, and leave with a repeatable process for applying these techniques going forward.
