In Mastering the Basics of Financial Literacy, participants will strengthen their ability to support individuals with disabilities in building practical money-management skills that promote independence and long-term success. The course begins with an overview of budgeting fundamentals, including how to understand income, track expenses, develop realistic spending plans, mitigate overspending and save for the future. Participants will then explore strategies for supporting individuals in creating achievable short- and long-term financial goals, with an emphasis on consistency, planning, and informed decision-making. Throughout the training, learners will gain tools and practical approaches they can use to increase confidence, self-determination, and financial self-efficacy among the individuals they serve. By the end of the course, participants will be better equipped to reinforce financial literacy concepts that support stability, autonomy, and self-determination at work and beyond.
Objectives

About the presenter:
Anna Mpinga is a small business owner, first-generation college graduate with five years of experience in K-12 education, and a Financial Services Professional affiliated with New York Life Insurance Company. Anna specializes in financial literacy and helping to empower individuals to take advantage of financial resources. She was born in Tanzania; Swahili is her native language and her family came to the U.S in 2004. Anna dedicates her time through service to the community and teaching others how to take action on their financial goals.
