This webinar highlights key factors that influence success for individuals with disabilities in the workplace. Research from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows companies experience a 90% increase in retention and a 72% rise in productivity when hiring individuals with disabilities. However, barriers such as limited accessibility, lack of training, fear of losing benefits, workplace indifference, and scarce job opportunities persist. Success often begins internally—with confidence, self-advocacy, skill development, and seeking support. Using respectful, person-first language and avoiding offensive terms is essential for employers to develop in work environments. As workplace culture continues to shift, persons with disabilities are encouraged to be hopeful about company efforts, as well as laws that recognize the value and potential of individuals with disabilities.
