Emotional wellbeing for people with disabilities is often neglected in the vocational rehabilitation process. The benefits of competitive employment for people with disabilities is undeniable, but whether work is meaningful is often overlooked. The literature touting the benefits of meaningful work has burgeoned over the last decade and as rehabilitation providers, it is critical that we foster the acquisition of meaningful work for our customers. This presentation will outline some contributors to poor emotional well-being, benefits of meaningful work, and strategies for effective implementation.
