Back to Ethics
Rehabilitation professionals interact with many individuals, including rehabilitation customers, employers, family members, and health providers. As such, they often encounter ethical dilemmas. However, their first responsibility must be to the individual with a disability whom they serve. This presentation will discuss potential ethical concerns and models for resolving these issues.
Objectives
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the various relationships that rehabilitation counselors encounter in their day-to-day work and the diverse ethical considerations of each group.
- Articulate why a rehabilitation counselor’s primary customer must always be the person with a disability they are serving (ACA, 2014 Code of Ethics A.1.a; CRCC, 2023 Code of Ethics, A.1.a.).
- Identify the sections of the CRC Code of Ethics and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors that address dual relationships and professional boundaries (CRCC, 2023 Code of Ethics, A.5 & 6; LPC Ethics, §681.41.k., l. & m.)
- Resolve ethical issues using various ethical decision-making models.
