About the presenter:

Richard Ellis is a retired school teacher with 23 years of experience in education, specializing in college preparation and social studies. Having grown up during a time when people with disabilities were often viewed differently, he navigated numerous challenges and bureaucratic hurdles to achieve success. As an educator, Richard recognized the critical value of advocacy and mentorship. He taught AVID College Prep, a program designed for students aspiring to attend college but facing barriers such as financial limitations, lack of resources, or challenging backgrounds. Inspired by the advocacy he received from a social worker in his youth, Richard dedicated himself to advocating for those in need, empowering his students to overcome obstacles and pursue their goals.
