Meaningful feedback is invaluable to individual development, but its delivery can significantly impact the recipient. This webinar discusses the benefits of meaningful feedback and provides insights on how best to deliver it. Throughout the session, the presenter explores the S.T.A.R. (Situation, Task, Action & Result) approach, a structured way to describe the specific situation, discuss how a goal was or wasn’t met, and provide constructive actions for improvement. Additional topics discussed include positive and developmental feedback, scenario mapping, and other tools and best practices for inclusive and effective leadership. The presenter also shares techniques for creating a safe space that encourages meaningful conversations about career growth.

Objectives

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Confidently give and receive both positive and developmental feedback.
  2. Apply best practices for inclusive leadership.
  3. Facilitate conversations that lead to ongoing and meaningful feedback loops in the workplace.

About the presenter:

A graduate from the Mayborn School of Journalism, Sandy Diaz Haley has 20 years of experience, ranging from communications strategy to employer brand and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She has worked for global PR agencies representing Fortune 500 companies, served in corporate roles and worked with nonprofit organizations, both domestic and internationally.

Her family immigrated to the US when she was six years old. She has straddled two worlds and cultures her entire life, becoming a chameleon. When she diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2014, she told herself she’d be ‘the best damn thing that ever happened to MS,’ learning and advocating as much as she could for herself and others. When she experienced an unexpected layoff, she needed a safe space to go for support—but it didn’t exist, so she created it. Flash forward, the networking community of 2K+ professional bada$$es Sandy founded continues to grow and thrive!

After her most recent role as VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Mr. Cooper Group, in 2023 Sandy launched her consultancy, SDH Communications. Sandy now helps organizations to define what they stand for and connect with audiences to create authentic connections that drive action. She serves as a trusted partner advising clients on strategic communications, DE&I, employer brand and learning and development, all while raising her own bada$$ ladies, Emilia and Sofia with her husband, Nathan and advocating for MS as a family.
