Resume Writing for Adults Returning to the Workforce - CEUs 1.5

Transitioning from minimum/inconsistent employment history to entertaining the idea of gainful employment requires an understanding of how to market personal workforce-ready skills. Identifying occupations of interest and locating resources to connect with current and future job openings in a particular chosen field will be explored. Participants will examine job descriptions to recognize keywords/phrases and the process to strategically include the information throughout the resume. Along with intentional planning, how to leverage current and previous employability hard, soft, and transferrable skills will be reviewed. Template suggestions will be provided to assist with the ongoing support of revising and editing an effective resume.


Objectives

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify hard, soft, and transferrable skills
  2. Apply a basic understanding of information essential to include/not include on a resume
  3. Create a resume for job seekers returning to the workforce

About the presenter:

Dr. Lakeiah Cheatham is an educator of 26 years with experience as a general and special education teacher, campus administrator, and EdTech professional learning leader. Continuous improvement of self and looking for opportunities to develop the lives of others using effective research-based teaching/learning practices is the best way to describe her. When she is not cultivating the minds of educators, students, and/or communities; time is well spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
