Gaining a comprehensive understanding of money management is vital for all adults. This session will guide participants through practical steps in creating and sustaining a budget. It emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between needs and wants when establishing a financial plan and helps set individuals up for long-term economic success. The presentation identifies key elements needed to achieve current and future financial goals and offers a step-by-step guide on initiating and adjusting a budget. Because circumstances change, the session provides a template for ongoing maintenance and organization of an effective budget.


Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will:

  1. Identify the difference between needs and wants
  2. Apply a basic understanding of fixed and variable expenses to a budget plan
  3. Create a basic budget plan

About the presenter:

Dr. Lakeiah Cheatham is an educator of 26 years with experience as a general and special education teacher, campus administrator, and EdTech professional learning leader. Continuous improvement of self and looking for opportunities to develop the lives of others using effective research-based teaching/learning practices is the best way to describe her. When she is not cultivating the minds of educators, students, and/or communities, time is well spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
